Creation vs creator

Who do you really think God is?

Text: Genesis 6 | Isaiah 26 vs 3 | Exodus 21-22

Reflection:

In Genesis, we saw Jesus create the earth and on the other hand, we also saw where His own creation pushed Him to press "the reset button" due to the wickedness of man (Genesis 6). I believe that we as children of God have been subconsciously attempting to make him like us when we're supposed to be like him. How can we try to limit God like this but still sing about how big, strong and powerful he is? Do you really have the faith in the God that you sing about?

Who do you think he is?

God will never submit himself to his creation. He refuses to be controlled by the very things he created. He's too big for that! There is nothing we can do to convince God to work within the terms and conditions of our small minds. He would rather destroy what he created and make something new rather than submit to it. If you find yourself constantly singing songs of faith to God but won't actually trust him enough to be the big, all powerful and all knowing God that he is then you're simply being a hypocrite. You have trained yourself to religiously offer up a sacrifice of lies.

We see in Exodus chapters 21-22 where God had to establish laws over the Israelite people due to their consistent complaining and acts of disobedience to the instructions of Moses.

The Lord would rather limit you and remind you of how dependent you are to him rather than doing everything the way you would want it to go because he loves you! He loves you too much to waste his time conforming to your rules and regulations. His plans are better and bigger! He gets more results. Think higher of him!

I pray that we will get to the place where we will trust God with the journey of our lives even if he makes us take the longer way around. We cannot compete with God and try to limit him.

Prayer

Lord I apologize for trying to push you in a box out of wanting you to do things my way. Your ways are past finding out so It is inevitable for you to do the unexpected. I choose to lean not to my own understanding. I don't want to fight with you God. Help me to submit to your plans and to walk in faith. Remind me of your grace while I journey through the desert. I choose to go wherever you send me without a murmur Oh God. Have your way in my life Lord. Amen
