Into the Unknown

Many of us fear the idea of wholeheartedly walking with Jesus because of the requirements that are needed in order to please Him daily. One of the main requirements is faith.
Hebrews 11:6 says
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” This fear is rooted in our sinful nature as human beings which makes us think that it is ideal to do things our way. Instead of trusting the unseen, we choose to hop into the driver’s seat of our lives because to man, it is easier to believe only what the natural eyes can perceive.
Choosing to live for Jesus is literally the best decision that anyone could ever make. However, with that decision comes submitting to Jesus daily, sacrifice and surrendering our desires, our will, our dreams, our plans etc. and we can only do these things by having faith and blindly trusting God with our lives. Yes, I know that this is not easy, but isn’t walking into the unknown with the author of your story who has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future” worth it? (Jeremiah 29:11)

We serve a God who is infinite and omniscient. He wrote your story from the beginning of time, and He absolutely loves you.
Psalm 139:13 says
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
This teaches us that our Father knows us more than we will ever know ourselves; He has written our story for His glory and wants for us as children of God to trust Him wholeheartedly. We cannot see the future, nor are we aware of the obstacles that are ahead, so, it would be foolish of us to take control of our own lives. This will only result in destruction and chaos.
Into the unknown in this context refers to the act of walking on this journey with Christ and a heart posture of surrender to blindly trust His ways because they are Higher than our own. Even though we cannot see exactly what His plans are, we must trust Him anyway because He is a good God. I must personally admit that having faith is a learning process and it will grow overtime. I am currently in a season of waiting on the promises of God to be manifested in my life, and this requires me to have unwavering faith.
Hebrews 11:1 says
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
It is not easy because I grow weary sometimes, but I take comfort in Holy Spirit who reminds me of God’s never-ending faithfulness. Therefore, we must have confidence that what God is doing for us in the spiritual will come to fruition if we believe. Faith is the key that unlocks the gifts, the blessing and the promises from God that has our names written on it.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus wants us to be like little children? He expects this of us because children trust easily without question. Walking into the unknown requires childlike faith and blindly trusting the God who holds everything together in His hands. Can you recall a season in your life where you were placed in an uncomfortable position that required you to act in obedience? How about a particular point in your life where your circumstances did not seem to align with the promises that you knew God had for your life?
Now that you’ve thought about it, ask yourself “Was I ever forsaken in that process?”
The beauty about our God is that whenever He takes us into the unknown, He constantly reminds us of His presence with us and as we follow Him, He begins to illuminate our path in that process which makes the ‘unknown’ become clear.

Going into the unknown is scary, but I must assure you that God is with you through it all. Jesus will never leave nor forsake you. So, as you step into a new season with boldness, trust that He is before you, He is guiding you with His precious hand. Wherever He leads you, be ready to go, for obedience is better than sacrifice.
The songwriter from Hillsong said, “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters, wherever you will call me…”. My prayer today is for us to have an unwavering kind of faith that is needed when we’re being taken into the unknown.

Just yesterday I received a call into the unknown so I can definitely relate. I feel like this call is the scariest one so far because the level of responsibility is so high. I don't think I have the skill to lead the group but Dad wants me to learn on the job so what can I say. I wish I'd give up on giving up though. It's hard to concentrate when I have a roller-coaster of emotions that even after addressed doesn't go away...
