Shekinah!

What does it mean? Text: Luke 2 vs 2 | Matthew 17 vs 5

Reflection:

I wanted to not only have encouraging articles in this devotional but I also wanted to approach this project with edifying material that will feed our spirits and further develop our knowledge of who God is and how much He values His children. I am sure you have heard the word "Shekinah" in church or worship songs. However, the sad truth is that so many of us use this word during prayer and worship and don't have a clear understanding of what it truly means.

Shekinah means "that which dwells" . It is derived from the verb shakhen, or shakhan, which means "to dwell or reside". The word Shekinah is not found in the Bible, but there are allusions to it in the core scriptures for this reflection.

So take this as a reminder!

God is a PRESENT help in times of trouble. When we say the word Shekinah we are asking God to dwell with us. He is faithful and loving enough to hear our cries and fulfill our requests to have him present with us. He is always more than happy to run to our rescue and sit with us in our situations. No matter what it is that you might be in, it doesn't intimidate the presence of God.

For those who might have known what the word Shekinah really meant, be reminded. God is right there with you in your situation even when you become too terrified and forget to call on His infinite shekinah glory.

Be reminded today children of God! When you say the word Shekinah, do so mindful that you call His presence down and also declare who He has been as the sovereign, saving and faithful God that He is.

Prayer

Abba Father,

Thank you for being the only true and living God. Thank you for dwelling with me in my mess and running to my rescue in my times of trouble. I am thankful that you allowed me to be edified and simply reminded of who you are and how much you prioritize making sure that you dwell with your children. I invite you in my life to dwell forever Oh God. I am asking for your shekinah glory to overtake my life not only when I'm in trouble but also when all seems to be going well in my life. I am asking you to dwell with me in seasons of abundance when my flesh would want me to think I no longer need you. I want you here just as much as you want to be here God. Shekinah! Amen
