The Cost of the call

No cost, no call.

Text: Hebrews 10:32-39

Reflection:

We cannot run from the cost of the call. When we examine the word of God we see where any person who is called to do ANYTHING for the Lord will have to contend with the reality of the cost of the call. There exists an inescapable connection between the call of God to DO and the cost of doing.

ree

Abraham, called, cost, sacrifice and obedience. David, called, cost, running for his life and a life of obedience. Joseph, called, cost, being thrown into prison for many years to be tested and tried, life of obedience. Jesus, called, cost death on a cross, lifestyle of total obedience and submission to the father's will. Far too often, upon hearing the call we respond without considering the cost. Then the rest of us cannot hear the call because we are too busy fearing the cost.

God desires that we hear His voice calling us out upon the waters far above the roar of the waves of the cost involved with walking upon the waters. Rest assured of this one thing, the cost is NOT uncertain... We can be certain of this one thing- IT WILL COST YOU EVERYTHING. God will not be pleased with us if we shrink back when He's called us forward. We will displease God and we will be destroyed if we run away from the cost. Israel's example serves us well.

Prayer

Lord, I repent for the times I have run from the cost of the call. I have underestimated your power and ability to keep and sustain me. The God of the call, is the God who supplies all my needs for the cost of the call. So Lord, I am sorry for doubting you and dishonoring you by making you look like a liar by my reluctance to embrace the call on my life and by outright opposing you by my rebellion and disobedience. I now say "Lord I am available to you"...I surrender all I am and all I have to the flames of purpose. I am yours so you can be mine. I embrace the call and the cost of the call.

Amen.
