The weight of the wait

Heavy Hiatus | Text:Genesis 12:1-4

Reflection:

It's worth the wait.

I promise you says the Lord. The gift you prayed for now lies within your hands. I heard you, and I have proven to you that I am a good good father by answering you and granting you the desire of your heart. God told Abraham to leave his land and the familiarity of his family; forsake the comfort and peace of his homeland to journey to a distant and unfamiliar place. He obeyed. God promised him a son through whom all the nations of the earth would be blessed but Abraham had to wait years for the son to come, and he died before the promise was completely fulfilled (nations of the earth being blessed).

Abraham had to live a promise-protecting life. If he lived carelessly/recklessly, he would not see the manifestation/fulfilment of the promises of God to him. His decisions had the power to derail God's plan or affect the timelines of the promise. What has God asked you to wait on/for?

ree

Are you waiting well? Are you living a promise-protecting lifestyle? If God promised it, he WILL do it. Can you wait for it? Or will your impatience cost you the blessing?

Throughout the Bible we see instances where the weight of the wait begins to cause people to stumble and crumble under it. Though you may be feeling the weight of waiting for the promise of God to be fulfilled in your life, do not despair and do not allow the weight of the wait to overcome you.

Prayer

Lord, I know you have asked me to wait for __________________________________. Forgive me for the times I have not waited well. Please teach me patience and place within me the power of self control. Help me to wait well for the fulfilment of your promises to me.
